Katkins includes the simplest SDDS designs which are quickest to work. They are suitable for beginners, people in a hurry and those facing deadlines! They tend to be smaller and use a more limited palette with fewer close tones. Examples include letters of the alphabet, the annual SDDS Christmas cards and a series of squares based on traditional North American pieced quilts.

Jen-shun is the main SDDS collection and contains most of the designs. A palette of up to thirty colours, many of them close tones, is used in each design, small patches of colour are used to give the desired effect of depth and detail. Some designs have a hidden surprise, such as this anniversary rose. Look carefully at the leaves in the corners! Many designs follow particular themes or are part of a series.

Tathlotevi is a collection of my own experimental work, as well as the more complicated commissions worked for people. These are not likely to be reproduced commercially in their current forms although, of course, ideas develop and flow into the other designs. The examples shown here are a piece inspired by a pineapple as a traditional symbol of welcome, and an abstract piece in yellows and gold. The local Episcopalian church is dedicated to Saint Columba and we are considering needlework to be used in our worship room - the dove is a trial piece for a banner and is meant to be seen from a distance.
